Easy to implement and easy to operate, eresource ERP

Many major organizations as well as small and medium companies are increasing their reliance on eresource ERP system as a cost efficient alternative to their current manual procedures or their piecemeal software applications. Under-performed legacy system and cost-factor involving the customization of existing outdated ERP system in many companies are making the business process a time consuming exercise and, in many cases, impractical.

eresource ERP has been developed with full awareness of specific requirements of industries and customers. It is an ERP system that serves many vertical industries. eresource ERP system has been incorporated with triggers, alerts and workflow procedures that ensures operational efficiency for any business. Being a web-based ERP system, implementation also not a cucumbersome process like in many other ERP packages.

The architecture of eresource ERP systems may be termed the total package approach. All customer-specific functionality has been included in the system effectively. This system has been developed in keeping with the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Indian market in mind. Its operational method, functionality and investment cost all well-suited to address the SMEs requirement in a rightful manner.

It must be admitted that developing such a package was not easy. As everyone knows that meshing the specific needs of thousands of customers into a single coherent package was not that easy. But eresource's top quality expert to sift through this mature package, incorporating a massive volume of functionality processes as required by the customer. Although being a web-based ERP solution, eresource has simplified the implementation process, it still brings efficient operational methods and return on investment (ROI).

There is also one important reason why eresource is concentrating more on SMEs. That is, SME segment is ignored by large players in the ERP market. But this attitude has ultimately helped competitiveness among ERP developers such as eresource, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the SME segment.

Another reason why the bigger players avoiding the SMEs are the high volume of customization and the work demanded by the SMEs need more personal care, which the bigger players do not support. So when it comes to the question of SMEs it takes a great deal of time for them to understand the business and design software programs based on modality. On the other hand eresource understands their requirements and genuinely get involved with them and train them to handle any complicated issues. This has helped the SME sector to choose and implement a solution which will be suitable not just only for their needs but also will fit into their budget.

Sometime there comes a big dilemma for companies evaluating ERP solutions because they are unsure of choosing software offered by a branded player or a small player. Some companies debate that only a branded player can satisfy the requirements even though the recipient is a small concern. It is not true.

Can organizations succeed without ERP system

If an organization is very small in size, caters to the niche market and has very limited scope, then it can sometimes succeed without ERP. But today's organizations are becoming large and the products are becoming more and more complex in size, sophistication and technologies used. Also, a single group does not necessarily build the different components of a product.

This is the era of multi-site, distributed production, where different groups situated in different parts of the world develop the components of a system. In such a scenario, managing the activities of an organization is a very complex task. If proper control mechanisms and procedures are not in place, very soon the operations can get out of control and products and organizations can fail.

ERP training and education

All users of the ERP system should be trained properly in using the system to its fullest. Different groups of people in the company will have different training needs. Managers need more focus on the decision-making and analysis features of the system while the clerical staff need more focus on how to perform their jobs. But all the users must be trained in the ERP basics, overview of the system and its working, how an action by an employee triggers a host of events throughout the organization, how automation will help, what processes are changed and so on.

Educate everyone so that they understand what is going to be achieved with the new system. Additional education should include total quality management and change management strategies. Also the training sessions should be used to gain acceptance for the ERP system by dispelling the myths about ERP. When the employees do not understand what the new system is and what is supposed to do and how to operate it, they will not use it or use it incorrectly. This can lead to failure of the system. Best option is to train department managers in how to use the system and have them train the users.

How accurate are sales forecasts

ONE should understand that the sales forecast is not exact but should be as accurate as one could reasonably expect for the business he/she is in and that, through measurement and correction of errors, the sales forecast accuracy is improving on a product by product basis.

It is mainly the job of planning, purchasing and production departments to be able to meet the sales forecast given this expected level of accuracy. However, it is not necessary to have an accurate forecast to plan and control your business; you do need everyone to work to an agreed forecast that is updated regularly with any significant changes.

Forecast accuracy also will depend on the historical business background you are in. If you are in a mature and stable business you should expect a reasonably accurate forecast. If the business is new and growing, the forecast will be less accurate. In either case the way to determine what your forecast accuracy should be is to start with the accuracy you have achieved in the past. This is the minimum starting point for forecast accuracy. If you do not have a formal forecasting process at the moment, you should start now.

Forecast accuracy should be measured in units of production not value unless there is no sensible unit of production (a company selling a service for instance). An important reason to measure forecast accuracy is to be better able to plan the future supply chain and value adds in factors such as selling price and even exchange rates into the forecast accuracy which do not affect the supply chain. Average selling price and exchange rate should be forecast as a separate exercise for financial planning.

Once you are measuring sales forecast accuracy, the next stage is to improve it. This is achieved by investigating any forecast errors outside the historical accuracy of the forecast.

Finally, the sales plan should be the date and quantity of shipments you expect your customer may require. If your customer requests products in line with the plan, but you are unable to ship that product, it is still a hit as far as plan accuracy is concerned. On the other hand, if your customer requests shipments on a different date from the plan it is a miss even if you could have shipped it according to the forecast plan.

How ERP systems improve company's business performance

Enterprises Resource Planning (ERP) solution enables the task involved in performing a business process quickly and efficiently.

With ERP, when a customer service representative takes an order from a customer, he or she has all the necessary information to complete the order. Everyone else in the company sees the same computer screen and has access to the single database that holds the customer's new order. As and when a department completes their work with the order, it is automatically routed via the ERP system to the next department for the next process.

The order can be tracked any time of point by any department by logging into the system. The order process moves so quickly through the organization, and customers get their orders faster and with fewer errors than before. ERP can extent that application to the other major business process, such as employees' benefits or financial reporting.

The entire gamut of ERP activities are summarized below:

•ERP facilitates a company-wide integrated Information Systems covering all functional areas such as manufacturing, sales and distribution, accounts, payables, receivables, inventory, human resources. Etc.
•ERP integrates and automates most business processes and share information enterprise-wide in real-time, thereby improving customer service and the corporate image.
•ERP provides complete integration of the system not only across departments but also across companies under the same management.
•ERP bridges information gaps across a company and focuses on key issues such as productivity enhancement, customer service, cash management, inventory, quality control and prompt delivery. Etc.
•ERP is the solution for better project management.
•ERP provides business intelligence tools like decision support system, executive information system, reporting, data-mining, early-warning system, enabling people to make better decisions and improve business processes.
•ERP not only addresses the current requirements of the company but also provides an opportunity for improvement and refinement in the business process on a continuous process.

Why Indian ERP system best suited for Indian industries

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solution software should address all the needs of an enterprise within the social context of the country in which the enterprise operates. This would imply that the local accounting practices, locally applicable taxation laws are fully adhered to in implementing the various business processes.

Many imported ERP software systems must incorporate India specific features before implementation as per the specifications of its client, where as an Indian ERP solution has already been programmed to take care of the national industry's interest.

Another feature of an India-made ERP like eresource ERP software system is its design. It has been designed to cater the need of the Indian users with fully knowing their working environment and requirements.

Industries also consider easy accessibility to their solution providers while choosing the right ERP for their enterprises. It also to be noted that eresource Infotech serves all our customers equally, unlike some overseas vendors who have a strategy to serve only large clients.

Cost factor also stands as one of the reasons why Indian ERP solution is best suited for Indian industries. Many a time the huge cost involved in it scares away industries from implementing ERP solution, depriving the benefits the system could offer. To overcome this precarious scenario, eresource ERP has introduced an affordable ERP, keeping in mind the Indian industries, specially the small and medium scale enterprises.

ERP on the CLOUD is powered by angel!

Why I like Sunday morning is I can sleep as much as I want. No need to get up in the early hours of the day and indulge in usual morning chorus. There are no deadlines to meet, no meeting to be conducted, no project to be implemented. I can pull the blanket over my head and spent more time in the bed while the rays of morning Sun forces its entry over the little gap of my bedroom window.

But last Sunday was different. I had to attend a family invitation for lunch in Bandra. It takes minimum one hour plus the traffic block to reach the destination from my place. As usual we started late and reached there much later than expected.

Our hostess, who is a distance relative of my wife, was there at the doorstep to receive us. It was a well-designed, beautifully-decorated, systematically-furnished house. We are first greeted with some drinks, Vodka for me orange juice for rest of my family.

We sat down and got into conversation. Though she is a distance relative of my wife, it is my first encounter with her. So there needs a little bit of self introductions from both sides to understand each other.

She practices Theta Healing. It is a technique that focuses on thought and prayer. Theta Healing teaches how to put to use our natural intuition, relying upon unconditional love of ‘Creator of All That’ is to do the actual work. It can also be termed as a spiritual healing technique which is done by reprogramming the subconscious mind. We talked extensively about Theta Healing and I must admit it was very informative.

As our conversation progressed she asked me what I was doing.

“I am in to ERP software solution,” I said with a smile on my face assuming that she may not know what I am talking about.

“Oh, I see,” she said and continued “I just read a report about cloud computing.”

It made me think that she also a follower of the latest happenings in the technology world. “This is good sign that you follow what is happening in the information technology”, I said.

“World and technology is gradually going to get transformed in cloud”, she said and continued the whole subject of cloud computing in her own version. She continued to talk like someone who could foresee the future developments in technology front. “I knew this would happen one day. All these technology would be powered by angels in the cloud”. She also made a description on cloud computing which was thought-provoking She said “Cloud is where Creator would connect everything to the angels”.

For a moment I have been transported into another world. My imaginations went wild. I have started dreaming the computers that are being guarded by angels floating in the air playing a hide and seek game with clouds in the sky.

On coming back to my conscious mind, I tried to convince her, “No, No. Cloud is not about angels and creator, Cloud computing is a new phenomenon. Cloud computing lets you use your files and application over the internet.”

“Hmmm … sounds interesting” she said and asked, “tell me how does it work in your ERP product?”

I said, “eresource is a web based ERP solution. Web based means, it also work on Internet. The ERP is hosted on a remote server. There is absolutely nothing on a local computer. It minimizes the need for storage capacity and also allows information to be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection and browser.”

“That is great, but I am a bit confused,” she said. “Are you trying to say we don’t I need a computer to run the eresource Cloud ERP?,” she enquired

“There’s a good chance you’ve already used some form of cloud computing. If you have an e-mail account with a Web-based e-mail service like Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail or Gmail, then you’ve had some experience with cloud computing. Instead of running an e-mail program on your computer, you log in to an Internet e-mail account remotely. The software and storage for your account doesn’t exist on your computer — it’s on the service’s computer cloud. Given that, you still need a computer to connect to the Internet and access your emails, right? That is exactly how the ERP on Cloud works.

“Ok”,she said and asked, “who does the maintenance of eresource ERP on the cloud”.

“Maintenance of the server and software is the responsibility of the hosting service provider.” I said.

“It sounds great and looks there is no need of having a full day System Administrator or there is no need of IT department as well,” she said.

“Absolutely right,” I said..

“Is this Cloud ERP stuff is cheaper, better and faster?”, she enquired

“Yes, of course,” I said, “Cloud ERP is much cheaper, much faster and better.”

“Surely, the technology you deployed has a great backing. Though it may look new for your industry, we started working from the cloud powered by the angels since the beginning,” she explained..

Without imparting much more information, I said, “yes we both work on same technology but for different reasons,” and headed to the lunch table.

Oh.. This is what an ERP?

Though majority of the business people know what an ERP is, there are also some people who do not have an idea what an ERP means or how it works. One of them is my friend’s friend, who most of the time travels than he works.

I met him recently in one of the restaurants in Mumbai. In fact, it took more time for me to recognize him than he took to recognize me. He invited me to join for a snack session, which I could not resist.
“What are doing now?” he asked me after settling down in a corner.

“Working with one ERP Solution company here,” I said and sat on the chair opposite him.

“ERP solution? With which mixture this solution used for?” he asked, and ordered a pizza for him and a sandwich for me.

“It is not the solution what you are referring,” I said and explained, “It is a computer software solution for business purpose”.

“I see,” he said and continued, “nowadays everyone does computer business. I never thought you are also doing the same thing. Which computer you sell?, I am planning to buy 25 computers for our company” he said.

“We are not selling any computer, we provide the ERP software to businesses,” I said,

“What this ERP? Is it your company name?” he enquired, after finishing the pizza and searching in the menu for his next order.

“No, no. Our company name is eresource Infotech, and we provide ERP solution to business enterprises and ERP means Enterprise Resource Planning,” I explained.

“What is the use of it?” he asked, after ordering cheese sandwich for him and nothing for me as I am yet to finish my first sandwich.

“An ERP solution will help streamline the functionality and technicality of a software solution in an organization,” I tried to be too formal in my explanation, though he has not been convinced fully.

“Can you be more specific, so that I can understand it and also can be used for me,” he said with showing little enthusiasm,

“Sure,” I said and went further with additional details, “ERP’s main goal is to integrate data and processes from all areas of an organization and unify it for easy access and work flow. ERP is usually accomplishing integration by creating one single database that employs multiple software modules providing different areas of an organization with various business functions.”

“This seems to be interesting,” he said with interest and insisted, “Explain more.”

“ERP systems can cover a wide range of functions and integrate them into one unified database. For example, functions such as Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Customer Relations Management, Financials, Manufacturing functions and Warehouse Management functions were all once stand alone software applications, usually housed with their own database and network, today, they can all fit under one umbrella,” I stopped and looked at him.

“What type of businesses is best suited for ERP implementation,” he asked and finished his cheese sandwich.

“It suits any business,’ I said, “Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Fleet Management, Modular Kitchen, Construction, Infrastructure these are some of the areas were we provide our specialized services now.”

“Seems interesting, tell me one more thing, how the staff will handle the new system? Do you train them for that?” he asked and ordered a coffee for him and tea for me.

“Of course. After the implementation of the ERP system a live training session will be provided to the staff who handles it,” I said.

“Can I expect anything more from your ERP system?” He asked.

“Yes, What is more exciting about eresource ERP is, it not only addresses all your day to day business challenges, you will also get a healthy return on your investment quickly and faster than you probably thought,” I said.

“That’s great. I think we must implement it soon,” he said and finished his coffee.

“Tell me sir, when should we come to your place to show the live demonstration?” I asked.

“Very soon, first let me start my business,” he said and got up.

I too got up and walked away. My fully filled tea up was still staring at me.

Eresource penetrates Indian ERP market

Eresource ERP helping many small and medium business enterprises in India gain maximum benefits from its (http://www.eresourceerp.com/Eresource-penetrates-Indian-ERP-market.html) ERP implementation and also edge over their competitors by successfully integrating its key business operations.

This is because every single operation and action taken at any place by any person depends on consistent and updated information. Finally, there are no two opinions that ERP system has a great importance and it has become the need of the hour for the survival of organizations especially in the manufacturing sector. Irrespective of their strength, whether they are the big players in the field or the SMEs, their success will depend on the way they are dealing with the current business process environment. With this note we would like to remind them that an ERP system is part and parcel of that successful formula.

Indian ERP market sees high growth

ERP has changed the way businesses were conducted in India.(http://www.eresourceerp.com/Indian-ERP-market-sees-high-growth.html) More and more organizations are implementing ERP solution. Integrated ERP solutions optimize resource utilization by providing up-to-the-minute information on demand for quick decision making.

Industries that successfully implement ERP can enjoy an overall cost reduction for business, an increase in per capita productivity, quick response times, lower inventory levels, and better customer orientation, all of which lead to higher customer satisfaction.

ERP implementation has also helped many organizations in India achieve great improvement in their management and operational control. ERP, which is much more than computer software, has changed functioning of the business environment in India and ERP solution is becoming indispensable in today's business set up.

India's economic growth, in terms with the country's exposure to intense global competition, has demanded the necessity for the implementation of ERP; of course, certain operational, financial, and psychological resources are required to satisfy these needs. Earlier, the majority of ERP systems have been focused on larger establishments. It was due to the high cost involved in the implementation of ERP system.

Improve management and operational control

With the introduction of low-cost ERP systems such as eresource ERP the smaller organizations also started benefiting from the advantages of this enormous business solution.

As the Indian market seems to be very encouraging for ERP implementation, the organizations must pay attention to the time-frame deployment. The structured implementation programme can speed up system deployment and return on investment. (Read: eresource ERP's On-Time Implementation).

Though there are many big companies yet to implement ERP system, it can be assumed that that they will go for it in a near future. That will surely lift the Indian ERP market growth rate somewhere near the industrial growth rate.

Automotive, Steel, Consumer Durables, Engineering and Manufacturing industries have shown a very high ERP penetration, which shows that these industries represent the greatest potential market in the coming days and we are optimistic that others will follow.

The most aggressive adopters of ERP SMEs

Changing Indian ERP scenario

IN recent times, the ERP scenario in India is witnessing a rapid growth. A number of manufacturing firms, automotive, steel, oil, textile and pharmaceutical companies have already been implemented ERP solution thus making ERP dominating the overall picture in these organizations.

For the early adopters of ERP solution, Finance and Accounting, Sales and Distribution, Materials Management/Purchase, and Manufacturing are the most popular ERP modules implemented. In recent times Plant Maintenance, HR, Transportation and Service modules are also growing in popularity.

We find different industrial sectors like cement sector, power sector, and food sector are going for ERP solutions. The construction or project companies have also implemented different ERP solutions suitable to their needs.

Currently, the SME segment in India has been one of the most aggressive adopters of ERP software. In fact almost 60 per cent companies in the SME segment have already implemented ERP. This substantial increase in the penetration level in the SME segment is attributed to the introduction of low cost ERP solutions such as eresource ERP which also caters the country-specific localizations and availability of large pool of skilled functional and technical talents.

The primal objectives that the SMEs have for switching to ERP is to get aid in smooth inventory management, timely scheduling of production cycles and shipment of goods, managing human resources and online data communication.

According to estimates, the ERP market in India has witnessed a growth rate of 70 per cent in the last decade. As a result, the market has leapfrogged over the years to a tremendous volume in terms of monetary gains. There were many reports which underlined the tangible quantitative benefits accrued by Indian companies in post-ERP implementation era.

Most of the time these benefits are difficult to prove on statistical grounds as soft benefits like comfort in work life, maturity in planning, attitude changes, transparency, visibility etc are either practically impossible to measure or correlate such improvements to ERP implementation. Companies are supposed to set their objectives prior to implementation followed by measuring of the achievements after implementation, and only then should they conclude about the effects of ERP.

scalable ERP system

eresource ERP system said to be a scalable. Can you please elaborate

As this is one word you may be hearing from many quarters and have no idea what is it. Let us explain you with a simple example. Today you are company tomorrow you become an organization and then a group. You may want to increase your branch or your users on the system, eresource gives you the flexibility to scale the ERP whichever way that you wish.

Therefore it has been said that eresource ERP system is scalable where the system administrator can create new users, and there is no limit to the number of users created. However, the number of concurrent users is subject to the license restrictions.

ERP systems cater to the need of all departments

Different companies have different ERP requirements therefore there are many ways to implement a solution. But collectively the term ERP refers to large applications that replace a multitude of independent applications or legacy system of an organization which caters to the need of all departments.

Some companies limit the scope of their ERP software to a few vital applications that will help them streamline processes or make information more easily available. A company that wanted to just integrate accounting and finance with payroll, for example, also could use an ERP solution.

In such cases, organizations might prefer to use ERP to integrate certain systems and leave legacy systems in place that are better able to handle specific tasks.

Making ERP success: Identifying the right elements- Part IV

A methodical implementation of ERP system starts from the preliminary analysis of ERP readiness audit for the client. What is discussed here is the key issue concerning the implementation methodology. The current business performance of the client, forthcoming strategic plans, investment potentials, culture and general human resource characteristics, expectations, and objective settlings for ERP should included in this analysis. Once the study report is submitted based on the above analysis, the client has to accept the recommendations emphasized on it.

Keeping with the current trend, it will be very risky from the client side to reject ERP based on poor readiness audit results. To sustain competitiveness ERP cannot be substituted by fragmented legacy systems. The only way out is the proper reengineering programme for ERP adoption. Though may seem critical, this is the main focus of the methodology.

A blue print should be drawn with details of migration and other things and scientific analysis of 'to be adoption' and its phase-execution to be discussed thoroughly. The activities for the overall implementation programme should be planned with time units. The consulting firms overlook the time required for data collection and policy decisions on masters settings. ERP master setting can be regarded as the heart of ERP implementation.

Sufficient time must be allocated to identify, clarify, validate and simulate the exact information about all the master level entries. In India, such exercise is the only opportunity for the companies to do for their life time better performance. It will not be false to say that an organization of size more than 1000 crores should take at least three months to set Item Master. . No consulting company or the client will agree on such figures in today's jet age. The idea is to sell ERP quickly and to start utilizing it.

One more important element is the parallel user training and knowledge upgrading. The best practice what eresource recommend is to take users to the actual ERP implemented sites to show them the process flow. What you see is the best training you never thought of, especially when you have no idea or clue for such concepts.

What is to be kept in mind while going live is, the time to be planned properly and the organization should be equipped with abilities to face whatever shortcomings they may encounter with. There are ideal implementation methodologies, which not only will keep the customer satisfied, but also will boost the confidence of the users. One of the methods used is mentioned here for readers' reference.

The method was applied in one of the manufacturing companies. It was recommended ten transactions every day to be carried out in ERP without any entry in legacy system. Then it generated all the documents from ERP as supporting papers for the manual entries and reports. The rest of the entries in a day used to be carried as manual entries in the legacy system. Soon users understood ERP is better on all the grounds. This formula worked wonderfully well for generating confidence and reduction in resistance in users' mind.

Another question is, should ERP implementation be carried out module wise or all the modules at one go? The answers to these questions are case specific. It will be difficult for to generalize the theory for it. Mostly decision on this depends on the readiness audit result, available strength of consulting human power - both internal and external - relevance of ERP at various sites, timeframe, and the budget. But it is highly recommend that the organization should go for the implementation of all the modules at one site, and then go for roll out strategy for all sites.

Finally, there is a wrong concept about the BPR and ERP system. The main doubt persist in the mind of many decision makers is whether the organization should first carry out BPR and then implement ERP, or vice versa. Actually, one has to understand that the physical form of the BPR concept is the ERP system. In some organizations where BPR is carried out first then ERP was implemented. In all these places, the BPR document was thrown into dustbin and new 'to be document' was prepared suitable to ERP.

Such cases clearly show that BPR benefits as such don't exist without ERP reference, and ERP just cannot be carried out without proper BPR. What we assume is that the BPR must be the outgrowth of ERP implementation and, therefore, it should be carried out during implementation only. But the major element of BPR is the change in the mindset, which can be initiated before ERP adoption, may be during the preliminary analysis by way of user training. The best thing to do in these situations is to carry 'noiseless BRP' which triggers the implementation smoothly.

What is bolt-on

Bolt-on is an artificially intelligent, comprehensive execution system providing very specific functionality or technology to complement ERP systems. Bolt-ons employ client-specific business rules to meet unique needs. There are many useful applications of this type. The usual means of connection to other organizations with ERP systems is through software components.

Most software has historically been delivered as inflexible code focusing on its originally intended application. A much easier approach is the idea of components where separate, encapsulated software code is written that is easier to manage, upgrade and connect to host systems. Open systems can easily accept modifications, additions or linkages to external software. Components make open systems possible.

Since the underlying philosophy in early ERP systems was internal integration, there was initially little apparent value in developing open systems. However, the ERP user market soon identified the benefits of best-of-breed selection of modules, sometimes across vendors. Vendors then realized the need to offer applications components. The focus shifted from internal design coherence to the ability to communicate with external software. Service-based architectures were created enabling business transactions and data transfer from outside the core applications.

Some examples where bolt-on software is used are product data management, product life cycle management, customer relations, e-procurement, order tracking, warehouse management, data mining systems, etc.

Why it is recommended to change business practice

Why it is recommended to change business practice to suit the ERP software rather than customizing the software?
Before implementing an ERP software the organization needs to analyze current processes, identify non-value adding activities and redesign the process to create value for the customer, and then develop an ERP system package to suit the organizations requirements.
A key contribution of ERP software is the bundled business process knowledge that comes along with ERP software. These processes have evolved over the past two decades of ERP implementation in some of the most well-managed corporations around the world. By adapting to those processes that have proved successful in some of the finest corporations around the world, an organization implementing ERP would get the advantage of these "best of the breed" practices. That is the reason behind the consultant recommendations.

What the stars hold for your business

Do not shy away from taking the right decision

THE above headline may read like an astrological question. But we are not into astrology. It will depend on how you are planning your business strategy today.

Despite many setbacks in business strategy there are still some small and mid-sized enterprises that are shying away from implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. What they have failed to realize is that in today's aggressive business environment ERP has become a necessity rather than a luxury.

Still there are six months left in this financial year. Act wisely to turn these 180 days to a decisive time of your business achievements, so that the coming days and months and years will be yours. eresource Infotech is here to help you to turn your enterprise from a people driven organization to a system driven organization. eresource ERP is the right source to gain operational excellence.

Why eresource ERP?

eresource ERP system is developed in keeping Indian SMEs in mind. . In this age of mergers and acquisitions, many of the organizations that were once small companies, and now, as midmarket organizations need to consolidate various software systems and standardize business processes. It is also true that many of these organization in the SME segment are coping with increasingly complex operating environments, aging technology - including outmoded ERP systems - proliferating business-management software and, of course, the need to grow revenue.
Though a respectful number of midsized companies have implemented eresource ERP system, there is still a few numbers of others who don't already have an ERP solution. Midsize companies also face challenges specific to their industries. Businesses that make consumer product goods are concerned about regulations and reporting requirements, while public-sector organizations are worried about maintaining customer loyalty. Also, manufacturers are concerned about the commoditization of their products. We are confident, eresource ERP system can help address all these issues, as well.

On the other hand it is also to be noted that many ERP implementations in the midmarket are quite mature and ripe for replacement. These midmarket companies must now choose an ERP system on which to standardize after multiple systems were installed, perhaps through mergers, across the enterprise.
Currently, the SME segment in India has been one of the most aggressive adopters of ERP software. This substantial increase in the penetration level in the SME segment is attributed to the introduction of low cost ERP solutions such as eresource ERP which also caters the country-specific localizations.

The smooth inventory management, timely scheduling of production cycles and shipment of goods, managing human resources and online data communication are also the primary reasons for many SMEs in India switching to eresource ERP system. If you are still confused when and how to go about an ERP implementation, without doubt we can say this is the right time. As the saying goes -- better late than never.
For a better tomorrow plan it today with eresource ERP.

What is the difference between ERP and WMS

It is important to understand the difference between Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Though many of today's ERP systems have tightly integrated WMS systems, the earlier version ERP systems had a limited participation for WMS. This may be the reason why many companies installed a WMS software separately to manage their warehouse activities.

An advanced system takes into account the data of the product, status, lot, dates, dimensions, location, area, region, owner and inventory details. For this function, WMS determines which would be the best location to store the recently received product. Some of the ERP package is not supported to determine the proper location. The selection of an ERP system with all these functions must be evaluated thoroughly before implementing it.

An effective ERP package gives the possibility to assign tasks automatically to the staff using rules and parameters previously defined. An intelligently integrated WMS module in an ERP system can give directions to the workers in an organized way.

Emergence of ERP software a boon for many industries

An effective Web-based application

Initially, during its launch period, eresource ERP was mainly associated with manufacturing sector and all its developments were focused on in this industry. Majority of the manufacturing segments have relied on eresource for their logistic, supply chain and ware house ERP solution. eresource ERP has made its stamp on this sector and till today we have succeeded in keeping our superiority in this sector. The benefits received by the sector stood a testimony to the above statement.

In the later stage, we have started realizing that there are other industry sectors, which are getting deprived of the benefits of an effective ERP solution. This was due to unavailability of an affordable ERP system to match their needs or lack of an ERP system which could offer a suitable solution to their industry standard. eresource ERP overcame this limitation and offered a solution suited for all industries and sectors. Another encouraging fact is that the solutions offered equal benefits to the other sectors as well.

ERP was a complex application when it comes to the question of handling functions. Many of the ERP packages available in the market were more prone to serving individual functions. Even though some of them served multiple functions they did not always cater to different functions from different category. But it was not the case with eresource ERP. It could not only integrate different functions from different departments but also different function from different industries.

There was time when an ERP solution was an exclusive internal solution of an organization and many people in the organization were not aware of the existence of a technology under their nose or they have lacked the information about functioning. With the advent of Web-based eresource ERP everyone in this organization started realizing the functionalities of an ERP solution also its benefits.

Though there was awareness that ERP system was a web friendly application the advantage has not been fully explored, until eresource made its entry. However other ERP solutions had its own reservations in using internet abundantly. eresource ERP worked on them and hence became totally a web friendly application.

Workshop on ERP to guide how to run a successful business

Empowering decision-makers with ERP technology concepts

WE have, time and again emphasized the importance of having ERP system to run businesses in successful way in today's competitive economic market. As there are number of big and small vendors in the Indian ERP market, selection of a proper system that suits your business needs are very important. To place the matter straight forward, what the decision makers must understand is having an ERP system just can't help your business process. What is important is which system you have implemented.

A rightfully conducted ERP workshop could provide you the guidelines of what your requirements and expectations should be, including hands-on experience with the most successful ERP solutions available in India today.

ERP workshop can also empower CEOs, COOs, CFOs, accountants, controllers, business owners and key decision-makers with ERP technology concepts.

CRM or Customer Relationship Management, the backbone of any business has been integrated as an important module in the ERP system. Sales and marketing teams from companies can benefit from attending the workshop that will help them gain knowledge in marketing plans. The knowledge gained through from workshop can put into practice by the sales or marketing team with the approach to the customers that could help improve your revenue and market share growth and minimize expenses - all of which leads to higher profitability. The workshop will also debate on all areas of an ERP system, its advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to benefits of ERP there are many arenas which are unknown to many. ERP expects boundary-less flat organization structure where every employee is a decision maker and not a mere follower. Secondly, the decision-making must be scientific than based on 'gut feel'. Thirdly, ERP assumes that the user has an in-depth knowledge of the process he is associated with. He has to work in a team as a key resource element. The objective of the user is to pass maximum value to the customer than to create his own convenience. The user must be analytical in his thinking and be able to use information generated through data iterations for more effective and informed decisions.

ERP system will work successfully if the users are training to handle the system to the optimum usage. Proper training makes the users fully equipped with handling of the system independently and this will contribute the success of all the business operations.

The solution provider must pay attention while providing training to the user in the right manner. To become a good user, one has to get trained and trained well, and later self trained. But what is the disappointing factor is most of the ERP training in India is more of software training rather than going deeply into the functionality and technicality of the ERP system. Normally the user is shown various screens of the ERP system and taught how to enter what he was doing previously.

The trainer must explain to the user why he should enter there, what are the repercussions of his entries in other modules, how to use the best out of multiple settings, why a particular setting is made like that, etc. In fact, the reality that every entry is the financial entry and ultimately gets posted into General Ledger and posted in turn into Profit & Loss Account or Balance Sheet is never realized by the user during training or even after implementation. This feel of responsibility is extremely essential for the user to become a mature ERP user.

To enhance the interest of users Indian companies must make a point of user training, focusing on ERP functionalities and not merely on tools for ERP. Ideally, the training session should be designed to cater to individual needs and hence carefully planned. ERP workshop will have a separate session to discuss and elaborate the training method of ERP extensively.

Looking at the way it is getting organized, the workshop on ERP on July 31, 2011 at Wagle Estate in Thane, will be very informative and useful event for the people who are connected with IT world. We are also eagerly looking forward to that event.
